General Driver Features
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This release contains NDIS 3 miniport and NDIS 2 drivers for AMD
PCnet-Mobile 802.11 compatible network adapters, as well as
DMI v1.x component instrumentation and IEEE 802.11 MAC
Management modules.
The drivers support 1 Mb/Sec and 2 Mb/Sec data rates. The default is 2 Mb and
it can be changed via the GUI interface ("Current data rate" parameter in the
PHY group).
A simple packet fragmentation algorithm is provided, regardless of whether
or not MAC Management is enabled.
An IBM 32bit DMI browser is provided with this release for your convenience.
Similarly, Microsoft's DMI service layer and component interface for Windows 95
are also included.
More information on DMI can be found at the Desktop Management Task Force
(DMTF) website, http://www.dmtf.org.
General Driver Known Limitations
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. Interoperability with other IEEE 802.11 based wireless LAN
	solutions cannot be guaranteed and will not be supported at this time.

2. The current release of the drivers support IEEE 802.11 compatible
	PCMCIA and ISA wireless LAN adapter card designs based on the AMD
	PCnet-Mobile device, and Harris Prism(TM) based DS PHY.

3. The current release of the drivers doesn't support
	multiple PCnet-Mobile devices in one system. The driver's design
	supports this feature but it has not been tested and therefore is not
	guaranteed to work.

NDIS 3.x Driver Known Limitations
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Your system must have resources (one IRQ, 16 bytes of I/O space and 24k
	memory window) for the card to use.  If Windows 95 card and socket
	services fail to find these resources on the system, the driver will
	not be loaded. Please see the software manual for potential
	installation issues and appropriate actions.
2. A number of Microsoft certification tests (NDISTEST) require a hundred
	percent packet delivery rate in order to pass.  Because of the
	complexity of the wireless LAN test environment (operating over
	significantly less reliable media, dynamic topologies, media is
	unprotected from outside signals), coupled with radio limitations
	and high error rates, it is impossible to ensure a hundred percent
	packet delivery rate.  As a result of this, the NDIS 3.x driver
	and the AMD/Harris/Celestica PCMCIA adapter fail the
	Microsoft certification test suite (NDISTEST).
3. The NDIS3 driver does not support ISA cards on Windows NT4.0 systems
	without PnP BIOS. (since NT 4.0 is not a PnP OS and relies on the
	BIOS for PnP device configuration). To insure that PnP BIOS
	is present and that PCnet-Mobile is configured correctly,
	please run Microsoft utility isolate.exe from DOS.  Use the obtained
	config parameters for PCnet-Mobile in the NDIS3 driver properties
	window when you configure NT network.
NDIS 2.0.1 Driver Known Limitations
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. The NDIS 2 device driver requires a 24K memory window in order to
	successfully load and run. Most PCMCIA Card and Socket Services
	providers provide a means such as a configuration utility to
	block out a range of memory for use by clients such as the
	NDIS 2 driver. If the PCMCIA device drivers cannot allocate
	the memory window, it may help to exclude a block from EMM386
	if it is used. An example of this is:

	   DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE X=D000-D5FF

	which would be placed in your CONFIG.SYS file.

2. Although the AMD Am79C930 PCnet-Mobile Controller only requires 16
	contiguous I/O ports, they must be aligned on a 64 byte
	boundary such as 300H, 340H, etc. To accomplish this the
	NDIS 2 device driver will look for a contiguous block of
	64 (40Hex) I/O ports.  If a block of 64 I/O ports is not
	available, the driver will not load. After finding a valid
	I/O address range, the NDIS 2 device driver will only request
	16 I/O ports from Card and Socket Services. Like the memory
	window, most PCMCIA implementations will allow the user to
	reserve a block of I/O ports for driver usage.

3. The current release of the NDIS 2 driver may have compatibility issues
	with the following brands of laptops and desktops:

	AST Ascentia 950N 		(laptop)
	HP Vectra 2xP100		(desktop)
	HP vectra P90			(desktop)
