  • Cannot configure the Access Point by RS-232 direct connect

    Probable Causes:

    1. Check the RS-232 cable, make sure there's no physical connection problem with both the Access Point and the configuration station.
    2. Make sure you use the right COM port # in the configuration station.
    3. Make sure the Access Point System Diskette inserted in the floppy drive of the Access Point with label face-up and the door is closed.

    Cannot configure the Access Point via ethernet connect

    Probable Causes:

    1. Make sure the ethernet connection to your configuration station is OK!
    2. Check your net administrator that the IP address for the configuration station is legal and other TCP/IP configuration, such as subnet mask, default gateway, is correct.
    3. Make sure the packet driver of the ethernet adapter for your configuration station is loaded. You can use DOS command: mem/c/p to check.
    4. Make sure the IP address of your target Access Point is correct.

    Cannot edit the zcomwla.cfg file in the Access Point System Diskette

    Probable Causes:

    1. Make sure the diskette is in the read/write enable mode.
    2. Make sure the zcomwla.cfg is not in the read-only attribute. Use DOS command: attrib zcomwla.cfg to check.

    LANEscape PC cannot communicate via the Access Point

    Probable Causes:

    1. When the setup for roaming is disabled, make sure the LANEscape PC is configured with the BSS ID of this Access Point.
    2. Make sure the LANEscape PC uses the same radio channel with this Access Point.
    3. Make sure the LANEscape PC uses the same operating speed (1M/2M bps) with this Access Point.
    4. Make sure the LANEscape PC uses the same security option with this Access Point, either turn off or turn on with the same security ID.
    5. Make sure you did not turn on any undesired packet filter on the Access Point.

    LANEscape mobile users cannot roam across Access Points

    Probable Causes:

  • Make sure all the Access Points in the ESS, which you allow LANEscape mobile users to roam, is configured with the same ESS ID.
  • Make sure all the Access Points in the ESS is configured with the same radio channel.
  • Make sure the LANEscape mobile user is configured with roaming option turn on.
  • Make sure the LANEscape mobile user is configured with the right ESS ID.
  • Make sure the LANEscape mobile user is configured with the right working radio channel.
